Our Story
Founded by Shomari A. O’Connor, Acres 1881 was inspired by his extensive experience working and touring with Traore Travels since high school. This background instilled in him the belief that travel is essential to learning and personal growth. The Traore Travel Club was created in homage to the spirit of his mother, Dr. Edna O’Connor, PhD. The goal is to help individuals grow into the best versions of themselves through the observation of life, much like George Washington Carver, while also being active participants in the world.
At Acres 1881, we emphasize safety and a family-like atmosphere in our tour groups. We have been organizing tours to Egypt since the 1990s, and many of our guests have traveled with us multiple times, returning for the enriching and supportive experiences we offer.
